The ability to verbally communicate God's word and spread His joy and kindness to others is a blessing. In our Language Therapy program, we help our students learn to overcome individual communication challenges through play therapy and one-on-one practice sessions. By working together with students and their families, we strive to improve articulation, language, voice, and fluency skills, while preparing each child for a lifetime of effective and enjoyable communication experiences.

Our Language Therapy Program provides screening, assessment by a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, for students with articulation, language, voice, and fluency challenges.

Language Therapy is provided through our fee-based Resource Program to ASCS students who demonstrate articulation or language delays, oral-motor difficulties, fluency disorders, or voice disorders. Our licensed Speech-Language Pathologist provides students with techniques and encouragement to facilitate improved speech-language skills.

Atlantic Shores Christian School is determined to prepare every child for academic success!  Our elementary campus offers a variety of resource programs to help students reach their full potential. These programs include a small-group learning center called "Smart Start" - a custom program to meet academic challenges. We want each child to achieve success in the areas that they find challenging.

Our focus is on the following areas:

A remedial learning program for 1st through 6th grade students. This program allows struggling students the ability to study grade level reading and/or math curriculum at a slower pace with small group instruction. Tutoring, modified testing, and accommodations are available in additional subject areas as needed.

A huge asset to our students is the Wilson Reading program that is offered through Smart Start. The Wilson reading system directly and systematically teaches students how to fluently and accurately decode. It is very interactive and multi-sensory. This program teaches total word construction not just phonics. Students learn to encode as they learn to decode.

By graduating each step and working one on one, students achieve mastery at each level, ensuring success!

The objective of Smart Start is to catch the student up to his/her classmates and reintegrate him/her into the classroom pace. A student must be recommended by a teacher for this program based on test scores and individual evaluation. This program is available for an extra cost.
