Pledger named BIG 12 Player of the Week
NORMAN, Okla. — University of Oklahoma junior guard Steven Pledger was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week today after his performances in the Sooners’ games against Baylor and Kansas State. Pledger averaged 23.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists over the two contests while shooting .563 from the field and .438 from 3-point range. He also made all four of his free throw attempts. Against No. 6 Baylor on Tuesday, the Chesapeake, Va., product scored a team-high 17 points and added six rebounds and four assists in a 77-65 loss. At No. 22 Kansas State on Saturday, Pledger poured in a game-high 30 points on 11-for-17 field goal, 4-for-7 3-point and 4-for-4 free throw shooting. He added five rebounds and one assist while battling second-half foul trouble. Pledger’s 30 points marked the third highest total of his career and lifted the Sooners to their first Big 12 road win over a ranked opponent in four years. He has scored at least 20 points six times this season after doing it three times all of last season. On the year, Pledger ranks second in the Big 12 with his 17.8 scoring average. He leads the league with his 2.7 treys per game and ranks fourth in free throw percentage (.906), fifth in field goal percentage (.485) and sixth in 3-point percentage (.436). He has made 40 of his last 41 free throw attempts dating back to Dec. 10, including all 24 in conference play.
Pledger has scored in double figures in 18 of his 19 games this year and already has more field goals (115) than he did all of last season (112). Oklahoma State’s Le’Bryan Nash was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week. The Sooners, who are 13-7 overall and 3-5 in Big 12 play, are at Kansas on Wednesday for an 8 p.m. CT game that will be televised by ESPNU and ESPN3D.

FCC National Champions – ASCS
The Atlantic Shores Coed-Cheerleading squad has won its third FCC National Championship! The Seahawks first won the crown in 1997, then again in 2004. The 2012 squad traveled down to Florida on Thursday morning. On Friday the squad took the stage mid day. The event was streamed live, and the student body was able to watch the team compete. It was a great show of support to our cheerleaders, and we know they felt the support. It was great school pride, and we are very excited for Coach Bryant and the team for their accomplishment. More information to come as many other awards were handed out this past weekend in Flordia!
